Associate Prof of Biophysics, PhD
Head of Laboratory of Membrane Biophysics and Macromolecules, Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Head of Biomaterials Research Center (BRC), University of Tehran, Iran
He is a biophysicist holding two diplomas in Mathematics & Physics, as well as Natural Sciences, got his degree in Cell and Molecular Sciences from University of Tehran, Iran (1984). He then moved to England and completed an interdisciplinary Master degree in Biophysics and Molecular Biology (1995) that followed by a PhD in Biophysics (1998) and further pursued during his Post Doc (2000) studying biological systems at the molecular level. Further to international collaboration, he established the Laboratory of Membrane Biophysics (2001) at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of University of Tehran that later on was expanded (2009) to address macromolecular studies in details. He is known as distinguished scientists of the year 2006, IBC (UK), 2005, Marquis Who’s Who (USA), recipient of Research Grant, MSEI Iran 1993, 1995, Welcome Trust, UK, 1999, and TWAS, Italy, 2002.
Being a member of various societies, including; Nanotechnology Society of Iran, American Biophysical Society, British Biophysical Society, Australian Biophysical Society, Iranian Society of Biology, Iranian Bioinformatics Society and so on he enjoys contributing to the scientific activities and as a university professor, he always wishes to establish new means of cooperation and collaboration worldwide. He is the editor of a number of journals including: Nature Scientific Reports, J of Multidisciplinary Cancer Investigation, Scientific World Journal, and Science Advisory Board.
His knowledge has been developed and updated through teaching postgraduate courses including: molecular, membrane, cellular and general biophysics, nano-molecular manipulation, intelligent drug delivery, tissue engineering and biomaterials to students in the fields of biophysics, biotechnology, medical engineering, medicine, pharmacy, immunology, physiology and so on. His main goal is to restore the lost activities of the nervous system in patients with SCI, MS, Stroke, Alzheimer, Parkinson and etc., through biophysical approaches using electric, magnetic, electromagnetic and ultrasound.
